Created by the Elemental Sovereign of the Earth to defend the
lands of Arr-Kelaan against those who would do it harm, ForestMasters
are powerful avatars. A ForestMaster resembles a huge dark golden
bear dressed in bardic clothing. The teeth and claws of a ForestMaster
shine with the dark-steel luster of adamantite. The eyes of a
ForestMaster resemble faintly glowing gemstones of varying colors.
Their massive paws, despite the sharp claws, are as dexterous
as a human hand and ForestMasters are capable of playing musical
instruments.
Combat: ForestMasters only fight to defend the lands against
those who would do considerable harm. In combat, they prefer to
use their magical abilities and cast spells as a 18th level mage
and an 18th level priest (with no restrictions to school or sphere).
If forced into physical combat, a ForestMaster will slash with
its huge taloned forepaws. They do not bite, nor do they 'hug'
as normal bears.
ForestMasters can also summon 12HD Earth Elementals, one every
three rounds, to aid them if necessary. These Elementals are completely
loyal to the ForestMaster and cannot be persuaded to attack their
summoner. Likewise, ForestMasters can summon creatures as if simultaneously
using all of the Monster Summoning spells, once every three
rounds. ForestMasters can only summon creatures native to Arr-Kelaan
and extra-planar beings will not respond to the summons.
Habitat/Society: ForestMasters are solitary creatures who
travel the wild places of the world seeking to protect the Earth
from those who would do it harm. They have been known to ally
themselves with Elves and rangers, and will occasionally travel
with an adventuring party if the goals of the party parallel the
goals of the ForestMaster.
Ecology: ForestMasters are omnivores who prefer to feed
upon fruits, vegetables and the occasional comb of honey (usually
giant bees). They occasionally eat meat, but they dislike killing
and hunt only rarely. Typically, a ForestMaster will only hunt
in an area in which herd sizes are excessively large.
