Half-Elves
[Castle Line]
Half-elves are not truly an independent race, but rather the offspring of one Elven parent and one Human parent. Most pairings involve Human women and Elfmen, as Elfwomen do not conceive easily even with Elven men. Half-elves usually operate at the fringes of both Elven and Human society and are highly sought as mediators in any conflict between the two races.

Appearance:
Half-elves most often resemble their Human parent, though they may also inherit many physical features from their Elven parent. Hair and eye color is nearly always inherited from the Elven parent; though the wilder Elven hair colors tend to be more subdued in the Half-Elf. Half-elves can be part of any of the Elven races except Drow and Ferrinethani as these Elves will not associate with Humans for long periods of time and definitely will not mate with them. Half-elves most often descend from Hyrrianethani or Sylvaranethani, than the more noble Argentranethani.

Personality:
The personality of a Half-elf is generally more like their Human parent than their Elven parent. Though their lives are longer than Humans, they do not begin to approach the length of full-blooded Elves.  Half-elves typically lack the patience and timelessness of their Elven parents.  They are also less conservative in matters of new technology than their Elven parents.

Their mixed blood often leaves them with a feeling of 'not belonging' and this tends to compel Half-Elves to seek acceptance in organizations of like-minded individuals such as adventuring parties, organizations of rangers and other woodland warriors, and the Druids.  Almost all Half-elves eventually find their way into adventuring life.

Lifestyle:
Half-elves are usually accepted into either Human or Elven society though they will never truly feel a part of one or the other. Most Half-elves will spend their time moving between the two worlds and will develop considerable wilderness skills in the process. Unfortunately, Half-elves do not inherit the immense life spans of their Elven parents, though they invariably live longer than their human parents. Half-elves typically live from between 200 and 250 years.

Half-elves have a 45% resistance to sleep and charm spells (in addition to a normal saving throw). They receive a +1 bonus to hit dice with any sort of bow other than a crossbow. They also have Elvensight and an increased ability to find secret and concealed doors. Merely passing within 10' of a concealed door gives Half-elves a 1 in 6 chance of noticing it. Actively looking gives the Half-elf a 2 in 6 chance of finding secret doors and a 3 in 6 chance of finding a concealed door.

Half-elves do not possess a LifeWater vial as would their Elven parent.

Names and Language:
Half-elves speak the language of both Human and Elven parents, and sometimes their names are a mix of both.  Typically, Half-Elves do not carry the birth-order designations in their names.

Equipment:
Half-Elven equipment will always be a mixture of Elven and Human; most likely of Human origin with Elven embellishemnts.

Pantheon:
Half-elves, like Humans, are free to worship any god they choose but favor those closest to their Elven parents; Luranna (nature), Beyurn (protection), and Sharra (good luck).

History:
As Half-Elves are not a true race, their history is closely tied to the History of their parent races.
